Seven Questions, Hiromi Kawakami, Sachiko Kodama 2007-2008

Special Thanks:Satoru Saito, Takeshi Aoki, Kyoko Kasuya

This work was made in collaboration with a Japanease novelist Hiromi Kawakami. First of all, she wrote three texts for our collaboration, then I proposed three installation plans for each of them.

We discussed and selected <seven questions> as the final installation, then I realized it. This piece was shown at Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography (Syabi).

Hiromi Kawakami's voice comes from a mirror. When people answer the question, the ferrofluid moves in a sink.

<Seven Questions>

Text by Hiromi Kawakami, (translated by: Hiroaki Oku, Steven Suzuki)

What did you eat today?

How are you feeling today?

Let me know one thing which you think you have to do but haven't done yet.

Let me know one thing which you are reluctant to say.

Let me know one thing which you don't like others to do to you.

Let me know one thing which you are afraid you might do to others, although you don't want to do it to them.

Are you tired? If so, how tired are you?

The weather is just right. What's the weather?

The person is comfortable to be with. What kind of person is it?

The room is cozy. What kind of room is it?

It's delicious. What flavor is it?

This is easy to write with. What is it?

You are content. What sort of situation is it?
